Meet the Director: Coaching and Training

About Sazi Ndwandwa

Sazi Ndwandwa is a Chartered Accountant with extensive senior management and executive experience, which saw him lead and manage people from 2008, when we qualified as a Chartered Accountant, to the point where he started coaching other leaders in 2017.

The first of five siblings, he spent his early years herding livestock and ploughing fields as a rural village boy. He then spent the next stage of his life living in a township in the Eastern Cape town of Mthatha. For his high school years, he attended Dale College, which is a multi-racial school.

He moved to Cape Town and attended the University of Cape Town, where he earned his first degree in Accounting before starting and completing his articles to become a Chartered Accountant with the Auditor-General of South Africa.

“He helps leaders to unearth their true potential one individual
and one team at a time

Career experience

In his career, Sazi gained many skills that enabled him to successfully lead project teams and head portfolios supported by experienced professionals of various cultures, races, genders, and ages. As his career matured to the point where (in 2014), he was appointed to an executive position, so did Sazi’s knowledge of leadership in business. He has supplemented knowledge by serving as a board director.

His leadership philosophy prioritises developing people and teams to have the ability and commitment to supporting the institutional strategic objectives in their various roles.

In line with this transformational leadership approach, he began coaching and later enrolled for postgraduate studies in Philosophy at master’s degree level.

Personal passion

His focus, since then, has been on coaching other leaders and their teams to optimise their personal leadership, team effectiveness and strategy development for organisational sustainability and impact.

Sazi’s understanding of strategic, governance and sustainability needs in corporate organisations extends beyond his own professional experience and is supplemented by the coaching work with other executives.

“All in all, Sazi believes that his work is integral to transforming South Africa
and Africa
to realise its potential.”

He now spends most of his time doing what he encourages the leaders he trains and coaches to spend more time doing – reflecting, planning, writing, and learning from other leaders and industry experts. He especially enjoys the multi-dimensional and diverse way that he can deliver his work.

He enjoys the one-on-one personal development of leaders in a secure and intimate environment and group workshops that afford leaders to also learn from one another in applying the training material in practical and contextually relevant ways.

From time to time, he accepts invitations as a speaker for guest lectures, seminars, or social occasions such as weddings.

Professional experience

Sazi is a member of the South African Institute of Chartered Accountants (SAICA), Coaches and Mentors South Africa (COMENSA), and the Institute of Directors South Africa (IoDSA).

In his professional capacity as an audit executive within the Auditor-General of South Africa, Sazi worked in four of the South African provinces, beyond the borders of South Africa and into Africa.

He interacted with premiers, speakers of parliament, parliamentary committee chairpersons, ministers and MECs, heads of government ministries, Chief Executive Officers, Chief Financial Officers, mayors, and municipal managers.
